Small Business Owners - Three Types Of Fears That Will Affect The Growth Of Your Business

Filed under: Business Entrepreneurs — Business Entrepreneurs @ 10:57 pm

When I started my own business I had variety of emotional conflicts that prevented me from taking consistent action. I am sure you can relate to this feeling. My conversation with clients revealed that apart from having several fears, the following three types of fears impacted the business owners to a large extent.

Fear of loss: As an employee, we were bound by certain rules and regulations of the employer. As long as we followed these rules and performed well, we got paid. Our regular paycheck motivated us to work consistently. However as a business owner, you are your own boss. Even though initially you may feel very good to be your own boss, you must be prepared to pay for your mistakes and poor judgments with your own money.

Fear of failure: We are mentally programmed to think that having a job is secure (which is not completely true). Hence when we lose our job, we tend to feel helpless. When you operate your business, fear of failure is stronger because you put your reputation not just with one employer, but with each new customer.

Fear of Rejection: In a job you, as an employee normally work with your boss, peers and subordinates. You get to know them gradually and there is hardly any fear of rejection. However when you operate your business, you must find ways to market effectively. You will have to contact several prospects/ potential customers. Not all of them will say yes to your services or product. Hence you must be prepared to face the fear of rejection.

It is very important to be aware that these three fears can affect the growth of your business. Once you are aware, you can make a decision right now to take consistent action to conquer these fears. It could be reading an empowering book or listening to an audio or doing activities that can help you let go of these fears.

Home Business Tips - How Firm is Your Foundation?

Filed under: Business Entrepreneurs — Business Entrepreneurs @ 10:58 am

They say that a structure is only a secure as its foundation. This is not only true in architecture, but it is also true when building a home business. No matter how much work you put into building your business, if the foundation upon which it is built is not a solid one, your business is unlikely to stand up to the stress of outside forces. In this article, I’m going to show you how to make sure that your foundation is as strong as possible. Some of this, you may not want to hear.

To start off with, and this is the thing that most people won’t want to hear, don’t have your business depend on another site. Let me explain. Let’s say ABC company has a business opportunity where you sign up and bring in members by selling advertising, so as to keep it legal. If ABC company goes out of business (yes it does happen) and this is what your business is built on, you go out of business too. There is no way around it. So you want the foundation of your business to be built around something that YOU YOURSELF created. That is just common sense business 101.

The next thing you want to do is make sure that the business that you do create is a legal one according to FTC regulations. Just go to the FTC site and read what they are. They’re too long to print here, but in a nutshell, you have to provide a real product or service. Ponzi schemes are against the law and if you start one, you WILL be shut down. You can almost take that one to the bank. So if you’re getting any ideas to create one of those schemes, kill them fast.

Finally, you want to make sure that you invest the necessary amount of funds into your business. The last thing you want to happen is your hosting account shut down because you were too cheap to buy a hosting service that provided you with enough bandwidth to operate. I can’t tell you how many sites I’ve seen get shut down because they tried to scrimp and save and run a half baked operation. If you’re going to do this, do it right or don’t do it at all.

A firm foundation will give your business a better chance of surviving past the first year. Once you’ve done that, the rest should be smooth sailing.

To YOUR Success,

Steven Wagenheim

Business Architecture of Hospitals - Part 12

Filed under: Business Entrepreneurs — Business Entrepreneurs @ 10:55 am

Organizational policies in the healthcare sector are a difficult area to manage. The reason is that these policies have a generic character but should serve a specific application.

Policies are the translation of the hospital strategy but are detailed for a certain domain. So there are pure medical policies, ICT, human resources, infrastructural policies.

Policies are derived from corporate values. One of such a value could be that the hospital operates on an evidence based way. This is often for the smaller hospitals that have limited space for research and development and follow the trends in the market. Academic or university hospitals can combine such a principle with a more innovative directive to pioneer in certain areas for which the hospital has specialized.

As there are more corporate values, there are also more policies that have to be managed in combination. Innovation and research may be a driver for an academic hospital; “patient safety” is a policy that overrules all other policies in the situation of a conflict.

Policies can be developed “on-the-job.” Basically a policy is formed after events and conflicts have already occurred. At the operation start of a new organization there are no policies yet and as things happen, a pattern raises of recurring issues. Policies are like the jurisprudence of law; many things that have happened resemble previous situations. Policies make sure that the decision taking process will be speed up. It is no use to dedicate time to issues that you have dealt with before. Just do what you have done before where the measure seemed to have worked out.

This works until there is a real change, a new conflict or a change in the environment where a new measure is required. And a new policy will be “established” as more of these new cases pass the management agenda.

Grow Your Cleaning Business By Creating a Referral Machine

Filed under: Business Entrepreneurs — Business Entrepreneurs @ 2:14 pm

One of the fastest ways to grow your cleaning business is to get referrals from your current customers. There may be times when a customer will pass your company’s name along without any prompting from you. However, to really get your clients to work for you, it’s important to encourage referrals. You do this by developing and implementing a business generating strategy.

A business generating strategy may sound complicated, but it’s really quite simple. All you need to do is set up a system to track where referrals come from, and then reward the individuals (including your own employees) or companies that have sent new business your way.

Before you begin actively seeking referrals, take a look at your clients and make sure that they are happy with your services. If you’re not sure how they feel about your cleaning services, send out a customer survey to see what areas they are happy with and where you might need improvement. There are also a few simple, but often neglected rules of courtesy that you should adhere to:

* Make sure that you show up on time to clean buildings. If you are delayed for some reason, explain why you were late to your customer.

* Take care of any complaints quickly.

* Do what you say you are going to do - whether it is dropping off supplies or showing up for a meeting with a customer. And remember, whenever you are meeting with a customer, turn off your cell phone!

* Always remember to say please and thank you.

You may provide the best cleaning service in your part of the country, but what your customer will remember is that one time you had a meeting and your cell phone went off or the time a complaint went unanswered.

Once you are happy with the level of service you are providing your customers, it’s time to set up your “referral machine”. Begin by deciding what type of rewards you will give your customers (and employees) for sending referrals your way. Are you just going to send thank you notes, or will you send gifts? Gift certificates are an excellent way to reward customers who send referrals; and cash is a good incentive for employees.

How do you get referrals from your cleaning customers? Ask! Think of the different ways you communicate with your customers.

1. When sending out monthly invoices include a referral form that they can pass along to anyone looking for cleaning services. Make sure you have a tracking number on the form or a place where they can write their name so they get the credit for the referral.

2. Do you send out a newsletter? That’s the perfect place to let your customers know you appreciate your business and that you are accepting new cleaning customers.

3. Call or schedule an appointment with your current customers to discuss how things are going. Ask if you can send them a referral form that they can keep on hand.

4. Ask for testimonials from your current customers. Then print part of their testimonial on a referral form that they can give to people who are looking for a cleaning service.

5. Put together a list of the individuals and business that could send referrals to you. This includes not only current customers, but employees, networking groups, suppliers and professional service providers (your accountant, lawyer, tax preparer, etc.) Send information to all the individuals on your list letting them know you are building your business and are looking for referrals.

6. People are busy with their own lives and their own businesses. So it is important that you thank them when they take the time to send a new customer your way. Taking the time to send a thank you shows that you appreciate the referral.

As any successful business owner will tell you, referrals from current customers are the best way to grow your business. Indeed, it is more cost-effective to give cash and gifts to individuals that send referrals your way than to it is to run an ads in your local media. Provide good service to your cleaning customers and remind them you are growing your business and the referrals you get will pay off much better than any money you spend on an advertising campaign.

Open Question: My husband and I were told we could form a c corporation and roll our retirement over into it without being

penalized for drawing it out before we we are 59 1/2. The company that told us about it calls it a versatile entrepreneur retirement savings account plan. They said it is legal and takes the employee retirement income security act (ERISA) and the Internal revenue Code of 1986 (IRC) into consideration. In calling around checking prices to have something like this done we were told that it is illegal to invest your retirement into a business that you will be working in. They said there was someone in Little Rock Arkansas that was doing it and that the IRS was going after them and the people who took part in it with them. Does anyone know the truth about this and how to go about getting it done if it is legal? Also we have found a business where the owner told us if we bought it we could transfer the corporation they set up for the business into our names….Is this possible and whats involved in it? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Animal Rights

To my mind, the life of a lamb is no less precious than that of a
human being.
Mahatma Gandhi (statesman and philosopher)

Many animals around the world suffer from being mistreated. According to statistics collected annually by the Department of Agriculture, in the United States this year, tens of millions of animals are likely to be killed, sometimes painfully, during biomedical research; 10 billion more will be raised in factories so crowded that the animals are unable to turn around, an then killed for food. (Wise B13) Animals are mistreated in these 3 industries: entertainment, fashion, and for experiments.

Accordingly, animals in the entertainment industry are treated in hazardous means to human ends. Many animals should be living in their natural habitat, unaffected by human intrusion, and not be forced to do things that do not come naturally to them. Firstly, the wild animals in the circuses are mistreated. Many lions, elephants, and other exotic animals are not taken care of properly in the circus. Evidence shows that many circus animals are not owned by the circuses, but are leased from exotic animal dealers under seasonal contracts. (Evans 4) Unfortunately, many circuses do not provide veterinary care for the animals they own. Circus animals spend too much time in transport on trucks and railcars that are not air conditioned or heated. The animals are trapped in small cages for long hours, and some are even chained to the ground. In addition, traveling circus animals are often deprived of food and water for long periods, and moreover the animals receive beatings from the trainers.(Evans 7) Secondly, in many zoos, some entrepreneurs dont know how to take care of animals. The entrepreneurs also do not provide proper veterinary and house care, this isnt fair because when animals do not receive house care, many of them do not have any shelter to stay under, and when this happens, many of the animals get sick because of the climate. Thirdly, in animal theme parks like Marineland, many of the animals are neglected. For example, Shamu, an orca, didnt survive for one day because she repeatedly smashed herself against the wall of her tank until she died. Another example is that when people want to experience wildlife up-close n Discovery Cove, the trainers and people who work there, always cut up the stingers from stingrays. Many of these theme parks are deadly destinations because hundreds of animals have died in these facilities because of all the improper care, and oppression. (Evans 12)

Mass-production and over-consumption encourage ignorance and indifference in the name of fashion. Wild animals are trapped, clubbed, strangled, and stomped by the millions every year to serve the relatively few people who wish to wear fur coats. Most animals are killed by catching them in a trap. For example, there are steel-jaw leg hold traps, and for every target animal caught in a trap, two to ten times as many non-target animals are killed in the same trap. When this happens, some animals try to free themselves by chewing off their trapped leg, only to die later from shock and blood loss, or as the crippled victim of a hungry predator. (Swart 1) When these creatures are trapped in the small cages, they suffer. Many are unfortunately diagnosed with contagious diseases. The diseases included are pneumonia, urinary and bladder tract infections, and viral enteritis. In addition, because of all the waste and urine, fleas, ticks, lice, and other insects are attracted to the bottom of the cages. When the animals are trapped inside the cages, many unfortunately self-mutilate themselves, this is called wring-off, and it portrays the pain and panic experienced by the animals. To make one fur coat, it takes about 30 to 60 beautiful animals. Animals included to make fur clothing are red and gray foxes, otters, raccoons, badges, nutria, bobcats, lynxes, beavers, opossums, coyotes, muskrats, and wolves. (Swart 1)

Annually, millions of animals suffer and die in painful tests in order to determine the safety of cosmetics. Substances like eye shadow and soap are tested on rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, dogs, and many other animals, despite the fact that the test results do not help prevent or treat human illness or injury. People know that toothpastes, colognes, after-shaves, deodorants, perfumes, powders, blushes detergents, oven and window cleaners, furniture and floor polishes, and other household products are used, but do they know that many animals are routinely tested in many painful ways? (Miller 1)A commonly used procedure is the Draize Test, which is used to test household products for harmful chemicals. In the Draize Eye Irritancy Test, solutions re applied immediately to the subjects eyes- usually a group of albino rabbits. This often causes intense pain and destroys the rabbits eyes, leaving them raw and bleeding, and after the test, the rabbits are killed so they can be examined for internal damage. (Miller 2) Cosmetics are not required to be experimented on animals, and since non-animal alternatives exist, it’s difficult to understand why some companies still choose to conduct these brutal and unnecessary tests. Animals are also used for educational reasons. For example, scientists do labs in which they do a vivisection, the act of cutting a creature while its still alive. They do these types of experiments only to gain knowledge of how the bodily systems work, and also to examine how they react to various stresses and viruses. (Miller 2) The government wastes a lot of money on the experimentations that occur. $18 billion is spent annually by vivisection industries in the U.S., some of it funds research programs that actually accomplish something useful, but often enough, this tax money is completely wasted on duplicated and pointless experiments. Instead of using all that money on pointless experiments, why wont they at least use the extra money toward making lives of the lab animals a little better providing them with larger cages? (Harnack 5) Experimentations lead to wasting a lot of tax money, and sometimes the lab experiments do not end up working well. Animal tests are primitive; and modern technology and human clinical tests are much more effective and reliable.

In brief, it isnt fair when animals are harmed, or killed violently because of the entertainment, fashion, and experimental industry. In our dealings with animals, whether direct or indirect, the ethic for the liberation of life requires that we render unto animals what they are due, as creatures with an independent integrity and value. But how can we make a difference? People should reduce or stop going to the circus, and we should fight and get humane treatment for animals, and last but not least, we should get quicker, easier, less expensive and reliable alternatives to animal research.

Open Question: If i have intercourse with my partner and charge for it

does that make me a home entrepreneur? I want to collaborate with the National economy!

Open Question: role of an entrepreneur in the community
Open Question: What’s a Portland, OR company engaged in ethical, sustainable business that supports social justice causes?

I’m looking to profile an entrepreneur/small business in Portland, OR that is engaged in for-profit, sustainable, and ethical business. This company/startup must be interested in social justice, preferably having to do with microloans/education in Africa, Asia, or South America. It’s for a scholarship app, so all help is much appreciated!

Open Question: How can I get my husband to realize he needs to get a job NOW?

My husband was working and going to school but he finished his associates degree and decided to transfer to a different school for the bachelor’s degree. He was working at the school and in order to work at the school he has to be enrolled there. Now he doesn’t have job since he’s not attending that school anymore and hasn’t started back to school yet elsewhere. I keep telling him he needs to look for work because all we have to live off of right now is savings, which are actually leftovers from college loans. I just finished my bachelor’s but haven’t been able to get a full time job right now I have 2 part-time jobs that give me very few hours and the work is basically on-call and the money I make is not even enough to cover the full rent if it weren’t for our savings.

He applies for a couple of jobs here and there but he’s clearly not serious about it. He tells me, I don’t want to get a job I don’t feel like having to go back to work for someone else. He’s trying to start his own web business (he’s studying web design) but I keep telling him, when you start your own business it takes time to make profits, which he’s made no money yet. He then tries to shift the blame on me by saying “OH YOU DON’T BELIEVE I CAN BE A SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEUR”. I try to explain that’s not true, I just feel that until he starts making a decent profit, he needs to work at least part-time to bring in some extra cash. If nothing else at least the extra cash could help him fund his business but more importantly we need to pay our bills now!! I think he has good intentions, but he seems like he’s being very naive. Any suggestions??

Open Question: Name the women entrepreneurs of India & the industry in which they are?

Name the women entrepreneurs of India & the industry in which they are?

Resolved Question: what is the difference between a business person and an entrepreneur
Resolved Question: When listing what I do for my career, do I capitalize the jobs?

i.e:

Owner of two companies - Entrepreneur.
Exotic Animal Keeper to over 15 “pets”.
Professional Writer & Journalist.
Art director & graphic designer for 40 websites.

Which words would I capitalize above?

Capitalization seems to be an issue of mine. I’m sure this probably makes me seem completely illiterate, but I’m not.. I promise!

Open Question: are entrepreneur born or made?why?
Open Question: How much can an accountant make if they open up their own office?

Any accountant business person that opened up their own office in here? I’m just wondering if I should major in accountancy and open up my own office later on in the years. I know someone that generates $70,000.00 per month and he opened up his own auto shop and someone that generates $50,000.00 per month opening up his bubble tea shop. Can an accountant open up their own office and make as much as auto shop owners? If so how long does it take for an accountant rookie to open up his/her own office and become an entrepreneur?

(Cash Gifting)… #9 So You Want To Be an Entrepreneur?

www.health-wealth-wisdom.info/?t=yt-Ent9
More and more people today are wanting to get ahead financially and they realize that in order to do that, they must be in business for themselves. Robert Kiyosaki explains in his book “The Cash Flow Quadrant” how we need to move from “employee” and “self-employed” on the left side of the quadrant, to “business-owner” and “investor” on the right side of the quadrant in order to leverage time and money to get ahead financially.

I created this video series to give a brief overview of some of the choices you have if first going into business for yourself, and some of the considerations. I talk about tradition brick-and-mortar business, franchises, bringing to market your own product, providing consultant or other services, eBay and affiliate marketing, mlm (multilevel) and network marketing, direct sales, and even cash gifting. This is by no means exhaustive, and I encourage you to do thorough research before you decide in which direction to move forward. Subscribe to my channel to keep up with the series.

In this video I discuss cash gifting– what it is, is it a business, is it legal? Cash gifting may sound great, but is it something you can be proud of, and will you know how to market it? Make sure you do thorough research on any business (sorry… activity) you want to start, and cash gifting should be no exception!

About me:
I’m Susan Wood, and after working too many hours for too many years for too little money at a large Boston law firm, this Manager of Training made a decision to do things differently. I spent a year traveling, first in Europe, then across the US from Massachusetts to California. Determined to change my life in every way I settled on the gorgeous Central Coast of California and took a part time waitressing job to give me time to open my life to new possibilities. I spent my free time hiking, painting, drawing and making friends. I got certified as a life coach, and shortly after also started my venture into the world of home business, direct sales. I am now happily occupied in my coaching and home businesses, learning and growing on a path to more abundance in all areas of my life.
